Dr. Matt Richards was born and raised in West Seattle along with his three sisters. He was active in sports from a very young age and played baseball, basketball and soccer through high school. He earned a position on the baseball team at Western Washington University in Bellingham where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. His passion for helping people through dentistry motivated him to pursue 4 years of graduate school at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Richards received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2009.
If you get to know Dr. Richards, you may learn a bit about his ¼ Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indian heritage, along with his love for adventure. This interest provoked Dr. Richards to land his first job in Alaska with the Tanana Chief Conference, providing dental care to the underserved population there. He often traveled in very chilling, harsh and dangerous weather conditions to remote villages accessible only by prop planes. He treated patients in Tetlin, Tok, Manley Hot Springs, Minto, Tanana, Huslia and Kaltag to name a few.
Dr. Richards returned to Washington in 2012 and married his college sweetheart, Lauren Galluccio from Mercer Island. He began working as an associate dentist for Dr. Otto Hansen at Covington Family Dental Care while searching for the perfect practice to call home. Dr. Richards purchased Dr. Randy Rigler’s Woodinville Family Practice on February 1, 2014.
Once settled in his new Woodinville location, Dr. Richards followed his passion for advanced cosmetic dentistry by attending a “Hands on Training” dental implant conference in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In this clinic, studying under the top educator in dental surgical implants, he provided 20 free of charge implants to people that really needed his help. This experience gave Dr. Richards a solid foundation for his successful implant practice. In addition, Dr. Richards acquired advanced education in Orthodontics using the Invisilign and 6 Month Smiles clear brace systems.
When not working you will find Dr. Richards every morning here in Woodinville at the 24 Hour Fitness gym getting in his work out. You may run into him at many of the local golf courses as he loves to golf year-round. In the summer he enjoys fishing with his family. On the weekends you may also find Dr. Richards and Lauren out on the town exploring one of Seattle’s great restaurants.
